What to Look for in Fulfillment Services for DVD/CD/Media and Books

Are books, DVDs and other media products taking up every inch of your office space? Although growth is the most important aspect of running any business, it can become a hassle when you have explosive sales and lots of inventory without anywhere to put it. Fulfillment centers are a convenient, reliable and affordable option for businesses who do not have the space, time, or manpower to fulfill orders. The right partnership can help you relax and focus on other important aspects of your business. Here are certain questions you should ask when comparing fulfillment services for DVD/CD/Media and Books.

Do they have strategic partnerships with any shipping services?

Ask if they have a strategic partnership with UPS, FedEx or any other shipping services. You may be able to get volume postage savings or receive a special discount for shipping media products since some carriers charge less for lightweight, smaller packages.

For example, if your business only accepts returns within 14 days of receipt, the center must understand your guidelines clearly and how to inspect each item that comes back to their warehouse. You should also find out how they report media items that are damaged in the fulfillment center.

Do they provide phone and/or email support?

Look for a fulfillment center that can provide stellar customer service. Although many businesses will do anything to close the sale, you have to be certain that they will be able to answer your questions and issues in a timely manner after the ink is dried on your contract. Since some centers also provide customer service to their client’s customers, make sure they are fully trained on your products and understand your brand beforehand.

How do they track your inventory and orders?

Ask what software they use to track your inventory and how they plan to process your orders. Many fulfillment centers can sync their platform to your website so they will automatically be notified when a customer places an order and they can ship the product. You may also be able to access their software at any time to get valuable insight into your fulfilled and unfulfilled orders, inventory and shipments. You can also see if their software sends alerts or notifications when your inventory is running low.
